|Lithuania – Vilnius: is the most southerly of the Baltic states, and although has the biggest "Old town" of the Baltic’s it is still small enough to walk everywhere. Along the cobbled streets there are hidden courtyards accessed through low archways off the main roads, in them are fashionable boutiques, art galleries and coffee shops.
The capital has a stunning mixture of medieval and modern architecture set amongst forested hills with a large river meandering through the center. Cathedral Square is situated in the city center. The western part of the square at the belfry is a popular spot for meetings.
The bar, restaurant, and nightlife scene is of a very high standard, making Vilnius an ideal weekend break destination for a couples romantic weekend or for groups of friends. The Lithuanians are friendly and welcoming, and in many cases speak good English.
There are regular two and a half hour, direct flights from Gatwick Airport to Vilnius.
